Siteseeing - Spearfish, South Dakota

John & Terri came over and we decided to take a ride to see the D.C. Booth Fish Hatchery in Spearfish. On the way, we stopped to take pictures of Sheridan and Pactola Lakes. Our stomachs were growling as we drove into Deadwood, so we stopped at Pizza Hut.
After lunch, we drove over to Spearfish to the fish hatchery. Established in 1896, D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery and Archives, formerly Spearfish National Fish Hatchery, is one of the oldest operating hatcheries in the country dedicated to fish culture and resource management. We purchased some fish food and enjoyed the feeding frenzy.
We toured a replica of a fish train used in the 1800s, to transport fish to various stocking areas and the original superintendent's home.

Just down the street from the fish hatchery was a small city park called Indians Springs. There was a natural spring flowing over a cliff. The park was dedicated to one of Spearfish's native sons who received the Congressional Medal of Honor for his service during the Korean War.
On the way back to the campground, we stopped at Bridal Veil Falls on the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway. We also passed a location where there was still hail on the ground from a recent thunderstorm.
John & Terri came over for dinner and we stayed up until after 11:00pm playing cards. We had a good and full day!
