Mount Rushmore National Monument - Keystone, South Dakota

We visited the Mount Rushmore National Monument with Terri and John. We arrived early evening in order to stay for the "night lighting". We walked the trail in front of the monument which provides different perspectives for each figure. We watched the "Building of the Monument" movie and toured the museum. While waiting for the night show to begin, we had ice cream!

The night show was very patriotic, with an outdoor movie explaining the four presidents contribution to the nation. The program concluded with the lighting of the monument, lowering of the flag by Boy Scouts, and honoring of active and retired veterans in the audience.
