Mesa Falls & Geocaching - Ashton, Idaho

Today we drove the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway about 30 miles south of the campground. We stopped along the way to view the Upper and Lower Mesa Falls. Upper Mesa Falls is approximately 114 feet high and 200 feet wide. Anywhere from 387 to 967 million gallons of water flow over the falls each day! The falls were magnificent...the pictures do not do it justice.

Upper Mesa Falls
The moisture from the falls creates its own micro-habitat which allows plants that might not survive here to thrive here.

Looking downstream toward Lower Mesa Falls.

Lower Mesa Falls (center-right).

After viewing the falls, we continued our drive around the byway, finding caches along the way...12 for the day!

Warm River near Bear Gulch area. Hiked here to find a cache.

The sign says it all.

Who threw that rock!

Say what!

Y found the turtle cache.

A beautiful ending to a nice day!
