Back to Geocaching - Tucson, Arizona

Today, we finally got back to geocaching, after a 3-month hiatus. We decided to check out the Tucson Mountain Park, operated by the Pima County Parks Department. According to our GPSr, there are at least 100 caches in the area. We found seven caches and two National Geologic Survey benchmarks. The rest will have to wait for another day.

The terrain is covered with numerous species of cacti, with at least one species that when stepped on will "jump" and attach itself to your pants leg (painful).

A clever place to hide a cache (look close)!

Art Museum - Tucson, Arizona

Since we had two-for-one tickets, we decided to take in the Tucson Museum of Art. I'm not much for art museums, but I like photography and the museum has a collection (over 130) of Ansel Adams photographs. I enjoy the high-contrast, black and white method he used in his scenic photographs.

Wash Weekend - Tucson, Arizona

No, not laundry! I spent the weekend washing the truck, jeep and trailer. It took all day Sunday just on the trailer. It takes a long time when you're "bucket washing" and checking the caulking as you go. Y finished up a couple of blankets for family members and began working on baby blankets for the expected twins.

We thought we were the only one. One what? This past week,
we met a couple (Rich & Edith) that have the same setup as us...an Excel trailer pulled by an International 4400 2L Custom Truck. That's us on the right and their setup on the left.

We are hoping to make it over to the Kitt Peak National Observatory this week, if the weather holds (rain expected in the middle of the week).

Another great sunset

Busy Hands - Tucson, Arizona

The weather in Tucson has been unpredictable. One day it's sunny, the next day it's threatening rain. On the days that are nice we enjoy the sunshine and cook something on the grill. On the days that aren't so nice, Y has been knitting/crocheting blankets for family members. Hopefully, the weather will clear out so we can get back to Geocaching.

Last week, we met a couple (Bruce & Jenna) and dog Clancy who are Excel owners.

Nightly Beauty - Tucson, Arizona

Since it has been a few days since our last entry, I guess I should let everyone know what we have been up to. Not much that would be categorized as exciting. We been taking care of some household items, i.e. cleaning and reorganizing the basement in the rig, reorganizing the kitchen cabinets, flushing the water heater, etc. But, most of all we have been relaxing and enjoying the great weather and beautiful sunsets.
