Wash Weekend - Tucson, Arizona

No, not laundry! I spent the weekend washing the truck, jeep and trailer. It took all day Sunday just on the trailer. It takes a long time when you're "bucket washing" and checking the caulking as you go. Y finished up a couple of blankets for family members and began working on baby blankets for the expected twins.

We thought we were the only one. One what? This past week,
we met a couple (Rich & Edith) that have the same setup as us...an Excel trailer pulled by an International 4400 2L Custom Truck. That's us on the right and their setup on the left.

We are hoping to make it over to the Kitt Peak National Observatory this week, if the weather holds (rain expected in the middle of the week).

Another great sunset

Busy Hands - Tucson, Arizona

The weather in Tucson has been unpredictable. One day it's sunny, the next day it's threatening rain. On the days that are nice we enjoy the sunshine and cook something on the grill. On the days that aren't so nice, Y has been knitting/crocheting blankets for family members. Hopefully, the weather will clear out so we can get back to Geocaching.

Last week, we met a couple (Bruce & Jenna) and dog Clancy who are Excel owners.

Nightly Beauty - Tucson, Arizona

Since it has been a few days since our last entry, I guess I should let everyone know what we have been up to. Not much that would be categorized as exciting. We been taking care of some household items, i.e. cleaning and reorganizing the basement in the rig, reorganizing the kitchen cabinets, flushing the water heater, etc. But, most of all we have been relaxing and enjoying the great weather and beautiful sunsets.

Warmer Weather - Tucson, Arizona

After leaving Bastrop on Tuesday, we arrived in Tucson today. The weather is nice...sunny and 74 degrees. I may be able to break out the shorts? We got set up, then I made a run over to the local hardware store. I needed some PVC to extend our sewer connection.

Our campsite

View of the desert and mountains behind our campsite.

This evening, we listened to the BCS Championship Game on the Internet. We could not receive the TV station that was broadcasting the game. It was a disappointing game. Texas' quarterback, Colt McCoy, was injured at the beginning of the game and did not return. The backup, freshman quarterback had minimal playing time. Texas did rally in the second-half and come within 3-points of Alabama, but it was not to be...Texas lost to Alabama, 37-21.

Happy New Year 2010 - Bastrop, Texas

Happy New Year to our family and friends! This past year was a good year for us. We spent eight months of the year traveling this beautiful country and saw some magnificent sites and met some nice people.

We will be leaving Bastrop shortly, and spending the rest of the winter in Tucson. We plan to be back in Bastrop sometime in May (or early June) for the birth of our twin grandsons. Then onto Virginia in early July for a family reunion. After that, who knows? That is the beauty of being a fulltime RVer. You can travel when and where you want, stay as long as you want, and when you are ready to move on, you can be gone in two hours.
